£1.3 million public buildings contract; a civic
success
Some of Dudley’s most historic and prestigious
buildings are set to be preserved for future generations, thanks to
a new £1.3 million per year contract.
Dudley Council is investing the funds to ensure its civic sites,
including the Concert Hall, the Museum & Art Galley, and Himley
Hall are kept in top condition and open to the public.
Ian Williams, which has a Birmingham-base, has been awarded the
two-year deal. The council has an option to extend the £1.3m per
year contract for a further two years.
The collaborative repairs contract starts in April and will
serve all the Council’s public facing facilities as well as its
administrative back-office buildings – from schools, libraries and
care-homes, to offices, depots and the Council House too.
Demanding value for money and a good service too, the Council
has appointed Ian Williams as its prime contractor, and made a
particular requirement that a high number of jobs are to be
completed at the first visit.
Councillor Adrian Turner, Cabinet Member for Personnel, Legal
and Property said: “The Council is proud of its civic heritage and
recognises the importance of its buildings in delivering public
services.
“This contract is designed to protect this valuable asset, to
protect the public, and to keep our buildings operational and fit
for purpose. I am delighted to welcome Ian Williams to Dudley and
wish the contract every success.”
