Ian Williams celebrates double win in Wales worth
millions
Ian Williams’ Cardiff office has been selected
along with four other property services specialists to undertake a
three year (potentially four) £6 million contract with Cardiff
Council. Ian Williams’ brief is to continue upgrading kitchens and
bathrooms within the council’s housing stock in order to meet the
Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS). It has also won a five
year £1.5 million cyclical decorations contract with Wales and West
Housing Association and will be carrying out repairs and external
painting to its homes from April 2009.
Ken Jones, property services manager for Ian
Williams Cardiff, said: “I am delighted that we have been chosen as
the appointed contractor for two highly regarded organisations
within Wales. “For the account win with Cardiff Council we
demonstrated our on-going commitment to the community we work
within. We pledged to continue working with local education
providers such as the Cardiff Construction Training Centre, which
brings apprentices into the construction industry and offers them a
meaningful training programme as well as future employment
opportunities.”
Ian Williams achieved the highest score for
its quality submission to the Council, which included unemployment
utilisation. And it has also been able to pass on benefits from its
supply chain agreement with Jewson to offer discount cards to
Cardiff County Council tenants.
Councillor Judith Woodman, of Cardiff Council,
said: “We are committed to improving our tenants’ homes to the
highest, most cost effective standard possible, where the work is
done as quickly, with minimum inconvenience and where the finished
product meets our tenants expectations.
“All our contractors are helping us achieve
this and are contributing to Cardiff’s housing improvement
strategy, which has been devised to meet the Welsh Housing Quality
Standard.”
Ken added: “I look forward to continuing the
long-term partnerships with these clients and the benefits they
will bring to all parties.”
Ian Williams’ Cardiff branch employs 110
people and its clients include Powys County Council, Hafod Housing
association and various Property Managers including King Sturge and
Workman & partners. The company has worked in Wales for more
than 60 years.
