On a roll with latest painting contract
win
Almost 5,000 homes across Dover are set to receive a makeover,
as part of long-term contract awarded by the council.
Dover District Council has appointed two firms to deliver
external decoration and repair work to its housing stock. Seven
bids were received, with national facilities management specialist
Ian Williams and Ashford-based Redec named to deliver the work.
Ian Williams will deliver the contract, worth £300,000 per year,
from its Maidstone office. A team are now set to start the 2010
programme including painting the council’s housing, and completing
repairs to guttering, roofs and brickwork.
The decision to appoint Ian Williams follows the end of a
five-year decoration and associated repairs contract and a
competitive tender process.
Mike Turner, development director at Ian Williams, said: “We are
delighted to be working again with Dover’s tenants. We have a
strong track record with the council, and it is pleasing that our
good customer satisfaction has helped us to add to our social
housing portfolio.
“Many of our staff who will be working on this project live
close to Dover’s homes, so it will be great for them to see the
difference their works are making to the look and feel of local
areas. Included in our plans over the coming years are a number of
opportunities for local contractors and apprentices so we look
forward to playing our role in the community.”
Other recent wins for the Maidstone operation includes work with
Anchor Trust, Kent County Council, Raglan Housing Association, the
London Borough of Bromley, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and
Orbit Housing Group.
