On your bike say residents
Residents in Newport are benefitting from some
pedal power, as part of work on a £3m housing improvement
scheme.
Gareth Brunnock, a tenant liaison officer for
Ian Williams, has hit the road on two wheels to answer residents’
questions about the new kitchen and bathrooms set to be installed
in their Newport City Homes properties.
The branded bike is set to be a familiar sight
around Broadmead, Moorland Park, Ringland and Royal Oak as Newport
City Homes and Ian Williams work together to reduce the carbon
footprint linked to the investment project.
Gareth, who doesn’t drive and is a keen
cyclist, said: “I was worried that I wouldn’t get this job because
I can’t drive but it works really well being able to cycle around
the estates and it’s more eco-friendly.
“It’s quick for me to get about and see
tenants and get out to any jobs I need to attend. I like cycling
and tenants are happy to see my out and about on the estate on my
bike.”

Gareth’s new mode of transport links with
other consultation opportunities residents are being given,
including a chance to see first-hand what the kitchens and
bathrooms will look like once they are finished as part of the new
community shop in the Ringland Shopping Centre.
The shop is Monday to Friday from 9 to10am,
and from 3 to 4pm.
