Painting the town green
More than 25 community groups and charities brushed up on their
painting skills, thanks to a donation from our Southampton
operation.

On Friday December 10, we threw open the door to our Eastleigh
warehouse to give away more than 100 gallons of paint to worthy
causes.
The aim of the event was to recognise clients in the
community who had supported us during 2011 by improving the look of
the area, and also to dispose in an eco-friendly way the paint
materials left over from the extensive painting contracts we work
on.
One Community, which supports carers, was one local project
which benefited.
Angela Poole, adult carers services manager at the charity,
said: “This initiative is a great example of a private company
working with the charitable sector to benefit local communities. As
a not-for-profit organisation we rely on donations but find that
grant funding usually relates to specific projects. It is difficult
therefore to fund practical aspects of our work.
“The donated paint will be used to decorate our offices, which is
often the first place that carers come into contact with us. It
will help to create a brighter and more welcoming environment for
those that we see and work with.”
Those who came to collect their paint also had a demonstration
on painting for amateurs from Ian Williams’ painting partners
Brewers and Akzo Nobel.
