Clarendon Square: Leamington
Spa
A prestigious postcode in this Royal Spa town, this Georgian
Terrace was built in 1838, the same year as Queen Victoria granted
the Royal title. When we were appointed for external redecoration
and repairs within this inner city conservation area, we took over
a six storey block of 18 apartments that had been in a state of
disrepair with no decoration for the last 10 years.
The scope of the works included concrete repairs, carpentry
repairs, repairs to metal feature balconies and decoration to all
masonry areas, sliding sash windows and all previously painted
surfaces
Key challenges included:
- Conservation area
- Private residents / leaseholders intermediately placed among
Warwick Housing Stock
- Works to the dormer requiring use of an MEWP
- Three elevations requiring full scaffold including 2 road side
elevations
- Access road and footpaths to be kept clear from congestion at
all times
- A guide dog training route
- The 16 week project took place over the winter period
Overall a challenging project with through careful planning and
control, and foreman Steve Powell’s friendly and open approach was
delivered on time to high quality.
