Swansea Marina
Bordered by the City on one side and beaches on the other, lying
at the very heart of Swansea’s redeveloped Maritime Quarter, the
Marina was one of the first coastal Marinas in the UK to hold the
coveted Yacht Harbour Association 5 Gold Anchor Award.
The scope of our works included the refurbishment of communal
staircases and the external redecoration of 37 blocks of flats
comprising nearly 300 units. A large number of the flats are
occupied by the lease holders, effectively acting as individual
clerks of works. As the works were funded by the joint service
charge, residents were active at all the stages of the project and
vigorously represented by the residents’ committee.
Key works included:
Internally – major electrical upgrade, flooring, carpentry
repairs, specialist handrail replacement and painting and
decorating
Externally – roof detail repairs, brickwork repairs, carpentry,
handrail installation, street furniture installation and
decoration
In addition to the many demands of the many stake holders, the
scope of the works themselves were broad ranging, and the success
of this challenging project lie in the commitment, planning and
control, and clear consistent communication afforded by
foreman Paul Phillips and the team.
