Water under Ivybridge
A Devon college has put a locally-based
property services company at the top of the class after its team
helped save pupil’s coursework.
Ian Williams, which employs over 200 people in
the area, was called into Ivybridge Community College in late
February this year after its Millennium Building was hit by flood
damage.
A number of ICT, technology and maths rooms
took the brunt of the water from a burst pipe during half term.
As part of the college’s emergency planning,
it engaged Ian Williams to handle the situation and within 11 days
the building was up and running again.
Geoffrey Rees, principle of the college, said:
“The fact that we already had a strong relationship with Ian
Williams meant that we were able to contact expert help
immediately.
“Thanks to their professionalism and
experience with emergency situations we were able to open the
college on the Monday and save some of the coursework and the
technological equipment which is vital to our pupils’ work.
“Our students’ lessons may have been disrupted
but this was avoided thanks to good planning and a great team to
call on.”
