Student accommodation in the pink
Ten student accommodation buildings owned by
Cardiff University have been given a new look to help residents
feel more at home.
Building services expert Ian Williams has just
completed the five-week project to paint the outside of the
Talybont South halls of residence in warm pastel colours.
They completed 10 of the 27 accommodation
buildings on the campus, which is home to around 1,250
students.
“The instruction came from the university that
they wanted the colours to be different, to brighten the place up a
bit. They wanted them to be cheery pastel shades,” said Andy Fudge,
contracts manager with Ian Williams in Cardiff.
“Before they were just ordinary concrete,
which was how they had been finished off when they were first
built.
“I think they look more homely now - more
welcoming for the students.”
Ian Williams works with a number of Welsh
clients, including Cardiff City Council and Cardiff University. It
is committed to helping its local authority and housing association
clients meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
