Congratulations to St Austell Brewery: This Year’s PWC West of England Business of the Year

As 2016’s PWC West of England Business of the Year, Ian Williams was privileged to pass on the title to St Austell Brewery at the awards ceremony, held on 13th September under Concorde at Aerospace in Bristol.

Following the company’s success Mike Turner was invited to join the independent judging panel and present the award. Mike comments: “It was fascinating to be part of the judging panel for the Over £30m award category. All the judges are extremely proud to be part of this panel and supportive of successful businesses in the West of England.

“St Austell Brewery impressed the judges across all six categories, which include financial performance, innovation, business management, investment in personnel and training, contribution to the West of England region and future prospects. The business scored strongly across every category, but the panel were particularly impressed by the consistent year-on-year growth, the award winning products they offer and the diversity of their business. The panel also highlighted how the business cherry picked favourable sites, invested well in new facilities and support the surrounding community. The company also showed very strong future prospects.

“I have first-hand seen the reward that comes with winning such a prestigious title, so congratulations and the very best of luck to everyone involved in St Austell Brewery.”

“For Ian Williams, this title has endorsed our commitment to excellence in people management and leadership that will lead to further growth and profitability in the future. Since winning the award we have continued our geographic expansion with new offices in Liverpool and Leeds. We’ve also met our target for trainees – apprentices now make up 10% of our workforce, achieved Investors in People Gold Accreditation and been awarded a ROSPA Gold Award for the ninth consecutive year.”
