Today’s National Apprenticeship Weeks theme is Employer Tuesday. As an employer with a really well-established Apprenticeship Programme, who is committed to transferring skills, building knowledge and growing our business through grassroots, we are able to offer apprenticeship opportunities in both trade and office-based roles.
At Ian Williams, Apprentices make up 14% of our entire workforce, meaning they are integral to the work we do. We want to train and retain talented people, that’s why our Apprentices are given permanent contracts from day one.
Each apprentice has a mentor, meeting regularly on a one-to-one basis, and an on-site coach in their trade to show them the ropes and help them develop to their full potential!
Our award winning in-house Academy team are on hand to make sure Apprentices go further with us, they offer full support from balancing college work to well-being.
Our amazing Academy have won the NHMF Best Apprenticeship Scheme award in both 2018 and 2021 and our fantastic Apprentices have won Rising Star 2023 and 2025 and Apprentice of the Year 2024. The awards don’t end there though, with many of our Apprentices being nominated for awards at their colleges too!
