Andy Doyle Is Ian Williams’ Best Apprentice Mentor for 2019

To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week 2019, leading property services specialist Ian Williams held its third Qualification Celebration Lunch at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium.  As well as celebrating the achievements of the company’s 19 apprentice, trainee and staff achievers, the company places a large emphasis on the mentors that support the trainees throughout this business.  This year, Andy Doyle, Contracts Manager for Ian Williams, was awarded the title ‘Best Apprentice Mentor’ in recognition of his dedication to helping his apprentices to be the very best they can be.

Andy Doyle comments: “Supporting these young people through the first stages of their career at Ian Williams is rewarding in itself.  Creating opportunities for them to learn as many skills as possible and supporting them individually in any way they need is imperative to them achieving their qualification. Whether that is with practical work onsite or help with the college/ academic side, it is my role as mentor to do everything I can to enable them to be successful.   Building relationships and trust and spending one-to-one time with them is important in creating a partnership that sees them through their apprenticeship and further career. I’m genuinely pleased to receive this award and get recognition for a job I enjoy, but most importantly it is about making a difference.  The Academy Officers offer fantastic support, often going above and beyond, and I couldn’t do my job without them.”

Nathan Jeffreys, Andy’s Business Manager nominated him for this award and explains how his outstanding approach makes a difference to those in his charge: “Andy Doyle consistently goes over and above to ensure that his apprentices are happy and developing into valued members of the Ian Williams team.  He adapts to each individual and works hard to set tasks that provide a varied workload to ensure they gain valuable experience in a real-life environment.  Andy sets a great example to all the mentors across the business and is well deserving of this title.  Well done Andy!”
