The Ian Williams’ Academy team is celebrating once again after walking away with a Highly Commended for the prestigious CITB Large Apprentice Employer of the Year Award. Encapsulating its success as making a significant contribution to deliver high quality construction apprenticeships, the team attended the awards last week.
Paul Snape, Ian Williams’ Key Account Advisor at CITB says: “I nominated the team at Ian Williams for their commitment to apprentices. Each year, they recruit up to 28 apprentices and put them through their apprenticeship scheme. The scheme is exceptional from start to finish and incorporates a mentoring scheme, where trade skills are passed on from generation to generation.”
Sian Pearce, Ian Williams’ Training and Development Manager added: “We are absolutely delighted to achieve Highly Commended in the finals, but we do so with the view that the work we carry out is in partnership with our CITB team. The truth is, we simply couldn’t be as successful as we are in our day to day work without the valuable and practical support we receive from Paul and his team. To give an idea of scale, we deal with 28 colleges across the UK and a recent apprenticeship recruitment drive attracted 850 applications. Despite such significant interest and demand, our aim is to provide consistent support to all our apprentices, so whether they’re in Wiltshire, Birmingham or Manchester, they can be certain that The Academy is there to support them. We thank Paul for our nomination and look forward to continuing our close working relationship with the CITB.”
The final word goes to Jo Down, Ian Williams’ Academy Officer: “I’m over the moon on behalf of the team – just reaching the finals felt like we’d already won! What a fantastic endorsement of the hard work we carry out every day, helping to keep our 62 trade apprentices, 45 Trainee Surveyors and 4 staff apprentices on track to achieve their potential. This Highly Commended title is proof of Ian Williams’ commitment right across the business to putting apprentices at our heart. It reflects the investment we make into our core business strategy of attracting and developing the best talent through a commitment to direct delivery of our services. I want to say a massive thank you to The Academy team, Ian Williams’ senior management and of course, the hard work of all our apprentices for helping us to achieve such recognition.”
