Northern Spotlight

Ian Williams has continued to increase its strong presence in the North of England following additional investment in Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester. Our teams have secured significant contracts within the social housing, education and retirement living sectors enabling us to expand our directly employed workforce. We are particular proud to have supported a number of community initiatives as well as increasing the number of apprentices in the region.

Contour Housing – the leasehold division of Onward Homes
Our teams in Manchester faced many challenges in completing this project from storms to the pandemic and a national lockdown. The project in Salford required detailed discussions with the leaseholders on our complex solution, as well as ensuring safety was always put first.

Riverside
Most recently, we were delighted to have secured a new 3-year cyclical internal and external decoration partnership with social housing provider Riverside. This contract builds on the existing relationship we have with Riverside, collaborating to transform lives and revitalise neighbourhoods.

BBC Media City
Working between 7pm and 5am when the live TV and radio studios were quiet, was key to our internal decoration and painting contract at the prestigious Media City in Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police
We have a long-term partnership with GMP and a recent project at GMP’s Grade 2 listed Sedgley Park Group Headquarters Training centre has recently been completed.

Out and about in the community – socially distanced of course!
Our Liverpool painting team took on a voluntary challenge to redecorate St Helen’s community FC changing areas for the Riverside local community.

We’ve been proud to help new Riverside tenants, with young children and serious health issues, by decorating their new homes from top to bottom for free. We’re currently showing our creative side too, working on a property that was in a really rundown condition and adding a touch of unicorn wallpaper and cotton candy wallpaper magic for a little girl’s bedroom.
Presfield High School and Specialist College in Southport is dedicated to helping young people with autism leave their education with the best possible skills to get them ready for life socially and also from an employment perspective. Colleagues from our Liverpool office supported Presfield to achieve this by every two months, dedicating a team including a Foreperson, Contracts Manager and Decorator to take students onto sites where they were working and let them experience real life operational scenarios.

Our exciting painting upskilling programme in partnership with Riverside and Social Enterprise organisation Halton Veterans Association who support many people with PTSD.

Using the therapeutic qualities of painting, this innovative programme includes mentoring and group sessions learning new skills and techniques to help them return to work.

Shared Values…
“All in all, the social value works provided by Ian Williams are a shining example of what can be achieved in conjunction with our contractors internal or external. It’s really comforting knowing we have external contractors with the same understanding of social value as ourselves.”
