Shining Star Tyler Heath is awarded a CITB Scholarship

Shining Ian Williams’ star, Tyler Heath who attends Nottingham College, has been singled out as an exceptional candidate to receive the scholarship by both Nottingham College and the CITB. Tyler is currently completing his year 2 plumbing apprenticeship.

Tyler was nominated for the scholarship by CITB Apprentice Officer Alison Byrne who explained: “It is so good to be able to recognise exceptional candidates who do everything that is expected of them during their apprenticeship. Tyler is always punctual, has a 100% attendance record and has passed all his exams first time. I have always kept Tyler in mind for the scholarship and have to say, he is an asset to Ian Williams. Ian Williams are such a good employer with a great apprentice scheme offering the whole package to enable apprentices to better themselves.”

Working with local colleges the CITB scholarship was established to celebrate and recognise apprentices’ achievements. The benefactor worked in the construction industry for many years and wanted to give something back in the form of a reward for rising stars who have achieved a high standard that is recognised by their mentors and peers.

After receiving the wonderful news of his scholarship Tyler said: “I couldn’t believe it. I was blown away. The scholarship will make a huge difference to me and I plan to buy some electrical tools.. I’ve had loads of help from my mentors Dean and Melvin who’ve really shown me the ropes. Everybody at Ian Williams is friendly and work together as a team. I’d really like to keep studying after my apprenticeship to get my gas qualifications”.

The CITB scholarship provides each apprentice with £1000 towards new tools and IT equipment and a further £500 on completion of their level 3 Advanced Apprenticeships.

Congratulations to Tyler for securing the scholarship due to his hard work and determination.
