We’re kickstarting National Careers Week and National Association of Women in Construction Week by taking a look back at some of our teams’ amazing careers in Ian Williams, starting with Jayne Cox and Amy Boothman who, in 2022, were the first females to be appointed to our Senior Leadership team. As Finance Director and Sales and Marketing Director respectively, they make up the 16% of senior leaders in UK construction who are female.
Jayne, who started with the business 16 years ago as Financial Controller, has been supported to deliver in a number of roles at Ian Williams, including General Manager and Operations Director for the Response product. Now our Finance Director, Jayne reflects on what makes Ian Williams a place for women to develop their careers, “If someone wants to try something, we’re open to letting them try. You have to give them the opportunity.”
Sales and Marketing Director, Amy Boothman, who began her successful journey with Ian Williams 14 years ago as a Bid Manager, echoes Jayne’s words, “Don’t think you have to be a certain type of person – whatever you bring to the table matters”. Seeing women driving change in our business is a lot to celebrate. As Amy says, “We hope it makes other women believe they can do it too – which they can.”
